A new Heritage Shorthorn Society sponsored ad is scheduled for the February 2026 issue of Graze Magazine. Attached above is a copy of the ad.
Calf of the Month for February: This month’s “calf” is one of the calves which Bert Moore has had out of a particular 1973 Heritage Shorthorn bull. Dr. Moore has used this bull repeatedly in recent years because of the quality of calves which are sired by this Heritage Bull. Although this Calf of the Month was born in 2018, his calf picture shows the quality potential of this sire. Please Note: All HSS members are welcome (and encouraged) to submit good photos of calves sired by Heritage Shorthorn bulls to potentially be featured as a Calf of the Month. The photos need to be taken when the calf is less than 7 months old, and sent to the HSS office along with a note about the calf’s sire and dam.
One member of HSS, Lisa Carpenter, is involved with Heritage Shorthorns in the educational historical Kline Creek Farm which is part of the DuPage Forest Preserve in Illinois. HSS is sending her a number of the Otis Fisher books for her to give away as part of her promotion of Heritage livestock including Heritage Shorthorns.
A treasure trove of old Heritage Shorthorn semen has been recently located, so there are new additions to both the semen code list and the Verified Heritage Shorthorn bull listings. Also check the Semen for Sale and Cattle for Sale pages for updates & additions.
